Another big milestone today – through 1,000 nautical miles to go! It feels great to lose a whole digit from the gps. But. 1,000 nautical miles is a long way to go still. Sleep has been elusive, and the lack of an auto helm has meant that I must physically adjust my course with the oars, often nearly every stroke. So it’s taking a toll. I am focused on getting to Antigua and seeing my kids and my wife as soon as I can.
On a different note, over the last day or two I’ve gotten HUNGRY. I’ve been lucky to have been able to eat consistently, even if I haven’t been eating a full day’s worth of food that I packed. I’m making up a little for that now. And the best thing on board by far is my biltong from Susman’s – best biltong in the UK!
